Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C), grease and flour an 8″ (20cm) diameter and at least 4″ (10cm) high cake pan.

Whisk the sugar with the egg and egg yolk until the mixture is light and frothy.
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Combine the dry ingredients with the eggs.
Mix until smooth.
Add the milk and mix well.

Pour a third of the batter into the cake pan. Cover with a third of the apples and sprinkle with a third of the amaretti crumbs.
Repeat this process two more times.
Mix the melted butter and amaretto and pour the mixture over the top of the cake.

Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes (if after an hour the cake is not cooked, cover with aluminum foil and continue baking for 15 minutes).

Let the cake cool for 30 minutes before unmolding it by flipping it onto a plate.
Wait until it is completely cooled before sprinkling with powdered sugar.
