Easy buttermilk pastry
In the food processor, with the blade, put the flour and salt.
Add the shortening and butter cut into pieces and pulse for a few seconds, just enough to get small peas of pastry.
Mix the buttermilk and oil and add them to the previous preparation.
Pulse for a few seconds, just enough to form the pastry.
Wrap the pastry in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Apple Galette
Preheat the oven to 425 F (220 C).
Prepare a pizza pan by lining it with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a bowl, mix the brown sugar and flour.
Incorporate the apple slices and mix well to coat them. Set aside.
Roll out the pastry into a circle of 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) thickness.
Place the apple filling in the center of the pastry, leaving a 1 inch (2.5 cm) border.
Fold the border over the apples, letting the pastry wrinkle.
Brush the pastry with melted butter, then sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
