1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. Blanch the pork ribs in boiling water for 15 minutes. Drain and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, prepare the marinade. Mix the ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.
4. Put the ribs in the marinade and refrigerate for 1 hour.
5. Remove the meat from the refrigerator and bake for 1 hour.
6. Baste occasionally.
7. In a saucepan, melt the butter. Sauté the onions and garlic. Add the bay leaf and thyme. Add the tomato puree. Add the white beans and cover. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes.
8. Remove the meat from the oven.
9. Transfer the vegetables to a baking dish and place the pork ribs on top.
