Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.
Cut the beef into cubes.
Pour the oil into a tin saucepan and brown the meat cubes for 4 minutes.
Add the onions and sweat them. Reserve everything to the side without discarding the cooking juice.
Place the 2 thick slices of bread, spread with mustard, at the bottom of the saucepan.
Place the meat and onions on top.
Pour in the beer and 300ml of water, season with salt and pepper.
Sprinkle with brown sugar, cover and simmer for 2 hours 30 minutes in the oven.
