Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C).
Butter 6 ramekins or a baking dish. Set aside.

In a saucepan, bring the milk, butter, and vanilla pod to a boil.
Remove from heat, scrape the vanilla pod with a knife, and mix the seeds into the milk.
In a bowl, beat the eggs with sugar and flour.
Pour the hot milk into the mixture and mix well.

Divide the cherries into the ramekins in a single layer and pour the mixture over them.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Let it rest at room temperature and serve warm or cold.
