1. Preheat the oven to 350⁰F.
2. In a pan, melt the butter. Add the pear slices and cook until golden brown on both sides. Add the sugar and cook for 2 minutes to caramelize. Set aside.
3. In a mixer, beat the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one by one, beating well after each addition. Add the flour a little at a time and the cardamom.
4. Butter and sugar a cake mold. Fill with the egg mixture and place the caramelized pears on top.
5. Bake for 25 minutes.
6. Remove from the oven, unmold, and let cool before serving.
