Preheat the oven to 350F (180C).
Line 12 muffin cups with paper liners.
In a bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
Add the pear pieces and chocolate chips. Set aside.
In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients.
Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, stirring just enough to moisten the mixture.
Divide the mixture among the muffin cups and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the muffin tops are lightly golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes in the muffin cups before transferring to a cooling rack.
