1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350°F.
2. In a large bowl, using an electric whisk, beat the sugar and butter until fluffy.
3. Add the eggs one by one and mix after each addition.
4. Add the flour, cinnamon, cardamom, and baking powder, mix gently.
5. Add the diced pears. Mix.
6. Butter and flour a cake mold. Pour in the cake batter.
7. Bake for 35 minutes.
8. Check the center with a knife tip. If the knife comes out clean, remove the cake.
9. Place the cake on a grid and let cool for 5 minutes before unmolding. Serve warm or cold.
