1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350°F.
2. In a pan, melt 50g of butter. Add the apples, cinnamon, cloves, and fennel seeds. Cook the apples and spices for 3 minutes over medium heat. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, using an electric whisk, beat the sugar and the remaining butter until fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one by one, mixing after each addition.
5. Add the flour and baking powder, mix gently.
6. Add the cooked apples and spices. Mix.
7. Grease and flour a cake mold. Pour in the cake batter.
8. Bake for 35 minutes.
9. Check the cake by inserting a knife into the center. If the knife comes out clean, remove the cake from the oven.
10. Place the cake on a wire rack and let it cool for 5 minutes before unmolding. Serve warm or cold.
