1. Preheat the oven to 400⁰F.
2. Dust the work surface and the rolling pin with flour. Roll out the flaky pastry dough. Form 4 circles of dough.
3. Using a brush, coat the edges of the circles with the beaten egg. Fold the edge over onto itself all the way around to form pleats.
4. In a saucepan, cook the strawberries, cardamom, and sugar together over low heat, covered. Let it simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Spread this mixture in the center of each dough circle.
6. Bake for 10 minutes.
7. Remove from the oven and serve.
